Certified Dance Education Program (CDEP)

10-Step Initial Certification Process

The Certified Dance Education Program (CDEP) begins here for businesses and organizations. The CDEP is designed for dance businesses, such as studios and companies; Individuals are NOT automatically credentialed by association with a certified organization.  All individuals earn their own CDE credential, regardless of an organization's status, by following the credentialing process described in the next section.

Step 2: Background investigation commences

Step 3: Personal one-on-one meeting

I've completed Steps 1-2 and am ready to schedule!

Step 4: Provisional Mental Health/Background Investigation Clearance granted or denied

Step 5: Enrollment in Physical & Psychological Safety Seminar

Step 6: Complete Step-Secure's 8-session Physical & Psychological Safety Seminar

Step 7: Exit exam: Provisional Certification Awarded!

Step 8: Attestation of compliance at 6-month mark

Step 9: Full Certification Awarded (valid for 1 year)

Step 4: Psychological Consultation

Step 5: Complete Step-Secure's 8-session Physical & Psychological Safety Seminar

Step 6: Exit exam & Award of Credential!

Individual Credentialing Application

Disqualifying Factors:

YOU WILL NOT BE APPROVED IF THE FOLLOWING SITUATIONS APPLY TO YOU. PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY. ONCE APPLICATIONS ARE SUBMITTED, REFUNDS ARE NOT GIVEN.  IF YOU HAVE A SPECIFIC ELIGIBILITY QUESTION, PLEASE REACH OUT TO US DIRECTLY.  

ELIGILITY QUESTIONS

FELONY CRIMES: AUTOMATIC DENIAL

  • Domestic violence
  • Any offense requiring sex-offender registration
  • Felony drug offenses
  • Prostitution
  • DWI/DUI offenses within the past 5 years
  • Attempt/solicitation/conspiracy to commit the above crimes

MISDEMEANOR CRIMES: AUTOMATIC DENIAL

  • Misdemeanor crimes involving children, abuse, or neglect
  • Any offense requiring sex-offender registration
  • Prostitution
  • Sexual misconduct, abuse, or fraud.

ADDITIONAL AUTOMATIC DENIAL EVENTS

  • Failure to disclose any of the above disqualifying factors while maintaining a CDE
  • Being named as a defendant in any civil case (anytime, anywhere) involving sexual misconduct or abuse, endangering a minor, or fraud.
  • Providing false or misleading information on your background investigation form.
